September 22 – Isha Johansen, the female head of Sierra Leone’s football association who was detained for 24 hours for alleged misappropriation of FIFA funds, has won the backing of the world governing body which says no such misuse took place.

September 9 – Authorities in Sierra Leone stand accused of harassment and intimidation after detaining Isha Johansen (pictured), one of the few women in the world to head a national football federation, for 24 hours and then releasing her on bail without charge.
September 5 – Uganda have ended almost four decades in the wilderness by qualifying for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
August 31 – Seven candidates, including two confederation vice presidents, are standing for election to be Africa’s two new representatives on the ruling FIFA Council next month.

July 27 – Gianni Infantino’s working visit to Nigeria this week was somewhat overshadowed by an ongoing domestic spat demanding the resignation of Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick.
July 22 – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has signed a new main sponsor for its top 10 club and national team competitions for the next eight years. The new deal with French oil and gas company Total will begin with the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Gabon.
July 13 – FIFA says there is no longer any threat of Uganda being banned for government interference following a meeting involving representatives from all parties.
July 12 – The vice-president of the Equatorial Guinea FA, Gustavo N’dong Edu, has been banned for two years by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and fined $25,000 after being found guilty of attempting to bribe referees in the Women’s AFCON 2016 qualifier against Mali.
June 8 – One of Africa’s football legends, Nigerian Stephen Keshi, has died suddenly at the age of 54. Keshi is one of only two people to win the Africa Cup of Nations as a player and a coach.
