June 8 – Former England defender Terry Fenwick, who was rapidly ushered in as head coach of the Trinidad and Tobago national team following a change of TTFA presidency, has been caught up in the scandal of that regime having allegedly forged signatures of sponsor support for the election campaign.
June 5 – Basketball star Kevin Durant has become the latest celebrity to acquire a stake in an MLS franchise, having reportedly invested in the Philadelphia Union.
June 4 – Major League Soccer (MLS) and its players’ union (MLSPA) have reached agreement on a re-negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreement that will enable the season to restart with a new competition format to be played in Orlando, Florida.
June 1 – Major League Soccer (MLS) is considering a June tournament in Orlando after the Major League Soccer Players Association (MLSPA) agreed to sweeping concessions to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
May 28 – While the women’s professional game will not return in England this season, in the US is again taking the lead in the women’s game with the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announcing that the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup will kick off in Utah, June 27.
May 22 – A second damning report in a space of a few weeks has been published by Britain’s Guardian newspaper into alleged appalling cases of sexual abuse by Haitian FA boss Yves Jean-Bart (pictured).
May 21 – Concacaf President and FIFA Vice-President Victor Montagliani has said that the biggest challenge facing federations is not the financial costs being faced right now but the costs of ensuring compliance with health measures in the future. He also felt that it was unlikely to see a return of fans to international matches before the major tournaments in 2021.
May 20 – South Korea and Germany may have been trailblazers in restarting their domestic seasons, but other leagues are following suit. On Tuesday, action returned in both Estonia and Costa Rica.
May 18 – Major League Soccer (MLS), who have abandoned their academy league structure, have announced a strategic partnership with US Youth Soccer (USYS) aimed at keeping open talent development pathways.
May 18 – The Jamaican FA (JFF) has declared its 2019-20 season null and void “for all levels of competition, nationally and in the parishes with a “tentative” start date for the 2020-21 season set for September.
May 11- One week after a federal judge threw out their claim against the US Soccer Federation for equal pay, the US Women’s National Team have filed their widely anticipated appeal.
May 5 – The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in the US has said that all clubs can use of outdoor team training pitches from tomorrow (May 6) as long as the follow the league’s medical task force ‘Return to Play Phased Protocol’.
May 4 – The US women’s national squad have vowed to continue their fight after their globally publicised claims for equal pay were dismissed by a landmark court ruling, handing a significant victory to the United States Soccer Federation.
May 1 – The man who has run football in Haiti for the best part of two decades has been accused of sexual abuse in a damning report in Britain’s Guardian newspaper.
