Davies and Shaw again head list of nominees for Concacaf awards

October 31 – Argentine legend Lionel Messi won the men’s Ballon d’Or for a record-extending eighth time on Monday after fulfilling a lifetime ambition to lead his country to the World Cup title.
February 14 – Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi are going head-to-head again in a FIFA competition, this time it is for the 2022 Best Player of the Year Award.
January 13 –FIFA has unveiled the shortlist for The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022, with Lionel Messi being the stand-out name amongst the men’s nominees.
August 25 – Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was named UEFA men’s player of the year on Thursday and his manager Carlo Ancelotti took the coaching award after they led the club to a 14th Champions League title last season.
August 12 – Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois and Kevin De Bruyne have been nominated for the UEFA’s player of the year award. Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp were shortlisted in the coaches’ category.

November 29 – Defenders don’t generally win matches, they save them. Certainly they rarely get recognised when it comes to giving out awards. Qatar’s Abdelkarim Hassan struck a blow for central defenders worldwide when he beat two of Japan’s Asian Champions League winning stars to pick up the AFC Men’s Player of the Year Award.
November 19 – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has unveiled the nominees for its annual awards with Japan dominating the nomination lists after what has been an outstanding year at club and international level for the county.
September 18 – Omar Khribin and Samantha Kerr have been rewarded for their outstanding displays throughout 2017 by being named among the nominees for this year’s Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Player of the Year Award in the men’s and women’s categories.

January 19 – Third time lucky. After twice being voted second in the CONCACAF Player of the Year, Bryan Ruiz has at last take the top honour of 2016. In the women’s vote Alex Morgan claimed her second title having won in 2014 and coming second in 2015.
